the Essex 11+
Exam.
Most Essex grammar schools use the CSSE (Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex) or FSCE (Foundation of Selective Schools in Colchester and Essex) format — not the generic GL Assessment used elsewhere in England.
This means Essex preparation is highly specific. Children need to practise with the right paper styles, question types, and timing — not just generic 11+ books from a shop.
