Three Test Areas, Three Providers
Devon has 8 grammar schools across three geographic clusters — Plymouth, Torbay, and East Devon. There is no single Devon-wide consortium. Each area has its own test provider and admissions process, meaning children can sit tests for schools in more than one area.
Plymouth uses Quest Assessments (English & Maths). Torbay uses GL Assessment (English & Maths — no VR/NVR). Colyton Grammar uses FSCE (English, Maths & Creative Writing). All tests are sat in September of Year 6 with no fixed pass marks — places are allocated by rank order of scores.
