About the Kingston 11+
Two Schools, Two-Stage Tests
Kingston has 2 state grammar schools — Tiffin School (boys) and The Tiffin Girls' School (girls) — both located in Kingston upon Thames. They are not part of any consortium and each runs its own independent admissions process. "Kingston Grammar School" is a separate independent fee-paying school.
Both Tiffin schools use a bespoke two-stage test written by GL Assessment. Stage One is a multiple-choice screening in English and Maths. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to Stage Two — written (non-multiple-choice) papers in English and Maths. Combined Scores are calculated from both stages, though the weightings differ between the two schools.
Both schools offer a 10% Pupil Premium uplift on Stage Two scores for eligible children living in their respective priority areas. Tiffin School also reserves up to 10% of places for music and sporting aptitude.

Kingston key dates — the Tiffin schools
Tiffin is the outlier in the London calendar: registration opens in September, when most boroughs have already tested, and the first stage falls in October. That is late enough to catch families out who assume they have missed it.

Unlike the boys' school, there are no music or sport aptitude places.
