About the Warwickshire 11+
Part of the West Midlands Consortium
Warwickshire has 6 grammar schools — 5 fully selective and 1 bilateral — as part of the West Midlands Grammar Schools Partnership, a consortium of 21 schools across five local authority areas. One registration and one test covers applications to grammar schools across the entire partnership.
The 11+ uses GL Assessment and tests four subjects: English, Verbal Reasoning, Maths, and Non-Verbal/Spatial Reasoning. English and VR are weighted at 50%, with Maths and NVR at 25% each. There is no single pass mark — each school sets its own qualifying score, typically ranging from 208 to 232.

Stratford-upon-Avon
2 SchoolsKing Edward VI School
Founded in 1295 and re-founded in 1553 by royal charter, this is almost certainly the school attended by William Shakespeare between the ages of 7 and 14. Widely known as "Shakespeare's School," it consistently has the highest qualifying score of any Warwickshire grammar school at approximately 232. Around 800 pupils with co-educational sixth form.

Rugby

Founded in 1878 and named after Lawrence Sheriff, the Elizabethan founder of Rugby School. Established to continue Sheriff's original bequest for a free grammar school for the boys of Rugby. Warwickshire 11 Plus Questions
The test consists of two papers, each lasting approximately 60 minutes. Four subjects are covered: English Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning (weighted at 50% combined), Mathematics and Non-Verbal/Spatial Reasoning (weighted at 25% each). All questions are multiple choice and electronically marked. There is no creative writing component.
